How to effective write articles

It’s really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of article writing. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.

Article Marketing Mini-Guide

Step-by-Step:

1. Pick a product from Clickbank, Plimus, etc that has low competition. Those products with high gravity may be tempting because you KNOW they’ve made others money, but their markets are HIGHLY saturated and much harder to establish your place among the ranks. Pick a new product, something fresh, something innovative. Make sure the sales page is clean and professional looking. Make sure spelling and grammar is correct and the page has an overall positive appeal.

2. Search for a basic keyword related to the topic and plug it in to a Google search like – “samplekeyword”. If you’ve really picked a new, innovative product you should find that the number of competing pages in the results to be 50,000 or less. If so, you’ve probably stumbled upon a product worth promoting. If not, try a keyword that’s a bit longer. If that keyword still shows over 100,000 results, it’s probably got a bit much in competition.

3. Go to the Google keyword tool and do some keyword research. Make sure you set the results for “exact” match type. Find AT LEAST 20 keywords with a monthly search average of AT LEAST 1000 searches. Take these keywords and do a Google search for them with quotations (i.e. “samplekeyword”) and make sure that the competition is 75,000 pages or less.

4. Setup a landing page. You can use a free blog, but I don’t recommend it. Spend a buck or two and pick up a .info domain and put it on a host that allows you unlimited subdomains (I personally use 1&1). Make a subdomain that is named with a high search keyword that’s related to what you’re promoting (i.e. samplekeyword.sampledomain.info). That little tid bit helped me quite a bit.

5. Go to ArticlesBase. Yes, ArticlesBase. I can’t stand EZA. Why? They take FOREVER and a day to review your articles almost every time. They also charge you to see keyword stats, ArticlesBase does not. You also get auto-approve status after you have 20 articles approved on ArticlesBase….the list goes on.

Write 20 unique articles based upon the keywords that you obtained through your keyword research. One keyword = one article.

Within your article, make sure you use your keyword as your anchor text (to your lander) in the FIRST or SECOND sentence. This is a crucial part of getting your article to rank well in searches. And yes, I’ve split tested my articles and that IS true.

6. Make sure you put a clear, enticing, strong call to action in your author resource box.

7. After your first article, the remaining 19 should all have that first anchor text linked to your first article (your main article).

8. Submit all 20 articles.

9. Once your articles are approved (usually within 1-2 days) ping all 20 articles. Personally I use Pingler.com and Pingoat.com to do this.

10. Social bookmark all of your articles. Setup an account on OnlyWire and make accounts to EVERY service it bookmarks to and use the bookmark browser add-on button to submit all of your articles to OnlyWire. Some services that it submits to WILL deny your submission. DO NOT worry about these. They don’t make much difference.

11. Bookmark your articles with ClipMarks and StumbleUpon. Both of these drive quite a bit of traffic to your articles and give you a decent backlink as well.

12. Go to Yahoo! Answers. One little thing that I found to work quite well (pulled in 8 sales in ONE day at one point) is to make 2 accounts on Yahoo! Answers. Have one be your “asker” and one be your “answerer” (yeah I know it’s not a word, but whatevvv). Make sure they are under two separate names and emails, of course. Then with your “asker” account, post a question that is keyword targeted.

I.e. if you’re targeting the keyword “puppy training course”, post a question such as “A puppy training course? Where can I find good courses?”. ALWAYS make sure that your keywords are close to the beginning of the question. Why? It will rank VERY well in Google searches. Long questions are cut off and you don’t want your keywords being cut off from the title or they won’t rank well.

Don’t post more than 2-3 questions a day from your “asker” account. After you have asked your question, clear your cookies on your browser.

After an hour or so, log in to your “answer” account. Do a search for your questions that you posted. Find them and leave an answer that is a good 2 – 3 sentences long. Make sure it’s very relevant. Then post a link to your best article on the niche. And also place the link in your sources box.

If you choose keywords that don’t have too much competition (under 100,000) your question should rank pretty well in Google searches in a day or so.

After 2-3 days, log back in to your “asker” account and rate YOUR answer as the best answer. This actually helps ranking if your answer is keyword targeted too. And you’ll also work your way up in Answers.

I had one day that I did this and in 4 hours I got 8 sales ALL from Yahoo! Answers. And this method also drives great traffic to your articles.

Great post. I used to do some yahoo answers before, and I have a little addition that you may (or may not) want to add:

My account is at 62% Best Answer for 59 answered questions (level 2). I have only 1 account, so I just answer other peoples questions.

What you can do, is this: Often times (like 50% of the time) the asker does not choose a “best answer”. After a set number of days, it will go into voting. If you keep track of your answers (you can just look em up from the main page if yr logged in) then you can go back to your answers that are “in voting”, and you are allowed to vote on your own answer 1x.

Usually that vote is enough to make you best answerer. Gives you that top spot right beneath the question for all eternity. No work at all.

AM isn’t a walk in the park by any means, but it isn’t hard either. It takes time and effort. I’ve had days where I’ve put in 12 – 14 hours. But it DOES pay off.  Good Luck.
